Not all Christmases are phenomenal, not all families are prefect, but the spirit of the holidays and togetherness has a magical effect. Here's an unusual story brought to you by one of our newsletter writers...
This adventure begins with a young girl whose name is Sage, a girl who practically has a perfect life. Loving parents, a wealthy lifestyle, friends, and all the rage. Except for the fact that… Her parents seem to appreciate everything but each other, constantly screaming and throwing insults and words that she shouldn’t need to know yet… Though all those worries seemed to melt away as Christmas approached and the Christmas spirit and scents filled the air...
As the morning of Christmas Eve rolled around, what Sage had expected to see was presents, a tall and decorated tree and happy parents singing around to Christmas music. Not the three of them waking up in the middle of nowhere, a freezing location which seemed to be a whole other world. “Where on Earth are we?!” All three of them exclaimed in terror in union, frantically pacing around their newfound surroundings. After quite a bit of panicking, Sage finally snapped and decided to attempt to reason with her parents, somehow managing to convince the two to bear with each other until they figured out what was happening. After some time had been wasted in an attempt to discover where they were located, all the information that they had gathered was that it was freezing cold, Christmas, and there were icebergs scattered among the snowy fields. They assumed that they somehow got transported to the North Pole. Their assumptions was soon proven correct when a sleigh appeared in the sky and looked as if… Diving right at them? Oh it was! Oh run! Barely managing to escape the rough landing of the sleigh, the family of three stood there with looks of disbelief etched onto their faces. “Santa..?” Sage had muttered out.
Instead of being met with a jolly, old, plump man bearing gifts and a warm smile, there stood a rather grumpy looking elder dude, who had soon ordered his elves to capture the family. Sage and her parents greatly underestimated the short beings, being captured rather quickly and thrown into the back of the sleigh as it flew off into the distance at rapid speed, soon dropping by a factory. The old man, who was referred to as “Mr. Nicholas” by the elves had commanded for them to start slaving away at the factory, creating toys. This was not at all what any of them had thought to be doing this Christmas although Sage couldn’t believe she met Santa in the flesh! (Though not in the way she’d ever expected…) He made them work at the factory for ages, with Sages parents’ constant fighting and arguing definitely not helping out with the situation. After cracking under the pressure, Sage had enough. She commanded her parents to cooperate and assist her in making an escape plan. The thought of being there for a moment longer was already making her feel nauseous. Her parents looked at each other, bit their lips and nodded.
Sage and her parents weren’t exactly sure what they could do or where they were headed, though for the time being, that didn’t matter. Trouble brought them all closer together and they realized they simply had to rely on each other, so they put their heads together. Soon they ended up snatching some elf outfits and changing into them. They were hoping it would provide some sense of camouflage. Then they started to implement their extraordinary and very cautious plan…
“RUUNN!” Sage exclaimed loudly as they were being chased by what seemed, an army of alerted elves. The family hopped into the sleigh that had earlier landed before their very eyes, started it up somehow and began to soar through the sky. Unsure of how to steer, they pressed every button at their disposal, being sent back home at lightning speed, such speed that you could most likely hear the sound at which they were travelling at. They sure heard it - loud whooshes and swooshes. Eventually, they landed in their backyard with a crash! Getting out of the now thrashed vehicle with grunts and groans as they tried to compose themselves after what they had just experienced… All the time, as they made the way back into the house, they kept laughing as a happy family, just the way Sage had always wanted it to be. They spent Christmas enjoying home baked cookies with hot chocolate that would burn the roof of your mouth if you hadn’t waited for it to cool down.
Whether they had Christmas, Santa, presents or not, they still always had each other.
